NW THERAPY SOLUTIONS

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) may be utilised at NW Therapy to help you in your relationships, by enabling you to manage your painful emotions. As failing to cope with difficult emotions can mean behaving in ways that cause problems with others.

At NW Therapy You will focus on therapeutic skills that will help you:-

MINDFULNESS at NW Therapy will help you to focus and be present in the moment.

DISTRESS TOLERANCE at NW Therapy helps you to increase your ability to tolerate your negative emotions. Previously, you may have developed problems through ways you tried to escape these emotions.

EMOTION REGULATION at NW Therapy helps you find strategies to manage and change intense and painful emotions.

INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS at NW Therapy focuses upon communication techniques that enable you to be ASSERTIVE, maintain SELF-RESPECT, and strengthen your RELATIONSHIPS.

DBT is a cognitive-behavioural treatment developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., in the 1980s. DBT was developed to help people with severe mental health issues and previously thought untreatable diagnoses.

But DBT
is also CLINICALLY PROVEN to help most people, as we all have difficult emotions at times.

It has been clinically proven to help people with DEPRESSION, EATING DISORDERS, POST-TRAUMATIC-STRESS, and DEPENDENCY.

At NW Therapy I can use DBT skills to help you. This is appropriate if you want to improve your ability to regulate emotions, tolerate distress and negative emotion, be mindful and present in the given moment, and communicate and interact effectively with others.

DBT can be effective if you are willing to work to achieve this improvement. It can improve your life by making it possible for you to live a HAPPIER LIFE, with IMPROVED WELLBEING, and not be so burdened by NEGATIVE and PAINFUL EMOTIONS.

DBT takes place in INDIVIDUAL or GROUP THERAPY sessions.

At NW Therapy I work in an integrative way and do not solely use DBT.
As your therapeutic program will be personally tailored to meet your presenting needs during therapy.

Call me at NW Therapy, on 07944897678, if you want to book a session.

Personal consultations, telephone, or face time sessions are available, if appropriate.

This snapshot is intended to inform and ease your concerns if you are considering coming to counselling. It is not a definitive explanation of a theoretical approach. If you are interested in theory, please research it yourself. The BACP website is often a good place to start.
